29.2.1 Expresiones idiomáticas con get y become

En algunos casos determinados, sobre todo en relación con algunos adjetivos, to get puede ser susituido por to become y al revés. Estos adjetivos son.

annoyed enfadadarse He always gets / becomes annoyed by children.
angry enfadadarse She gets / becomes angry by violence.
better / worse mejor / peor Day by day, he gets / becomes better.
cheap(er) más barato The flights to Europe get / become cheaper every year.
cold frío You get / become cold, if you don't dress well.
dry seco The weather gets / becomes dry with the wind.
hungry hambriento They get / become hungry by swimming all day.
old viejo We all get / become old, if we are lucky.
ready listo Did you get / become ready for the evening?
lost perdido We got / became lost on the way to here.
thirsty sediento He gets / becomes thirsty from watching others drink.
warm caliente She gets / becomes warm with nice thoughts.
wet mojado They got / became wet by the heavy rain.


Todos estos ejemplos describen un cambio corporal o psíquico. Este tipo de cambio se puede describir tanto con to get como con to become. Esta sustitución no es posible en otras circunstancias.
