El simple past subjunctive es casi idéntico al simple past. Hay un solo verbo, to be, que tiene dos formas que se distinguen del simple past.

simple past :
I was
he / she was

simple past subjunctive:
I were
he / she were

Las otras formas de to be no se distinguen del indicativo. En todos los otros verbos no hay diferencia alguna.

El simple past subjunctive     I wish she were here with us, that would be much more fun.   Quisiera que esté aquí, esto sería más divertido.   He always ordered everybody around just as if he were the boss.   Da órdenes a todo el mundo, como si estuviera el jefe.     If only they came here soon, we wouldn't have to wait any longer.   Si vinieran dentro de poco no tendríamos que esparar más.   We dressed up as though we went to the theatre.   Nos hemos vestido elegantemente, como si fuesemos al teatro.
